Second Day -Little Rock Arkansas

Day two found us continuing on US64 to Memphis and then the dastardly I-40. God how I hate interstates and their mundane scenery. Jumping off I-40 for a short haul on I-30 to the North Little Rock Campground. On the other side of the Arkansas River is the City of Little Rock.
The old statehouse is the only buiding left standing from the 1830s when the Eastern Tribes of Native Americans, The Muscokees, The Cherokee, The Creek and The Choctaw passed through the area while being pushed to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears.

Starting our walk along the neat river walk adjacent to the campground, we had an old fashioned trolley pass over on the bridge above us. Kind of fun since the people on the trolley were waving and having a good time.

We also found what every river town need, it's own submarine. Apparently this WWII sub was named the Razorback, so I guess that fits with the Arkansas River.

Not one but two riverboats. The Arkansas Queen was getting ready to depart on an evening dinner cruise. Somehow we missed this in our prior planning. Oh well, maybe next time. It got us thinking about something to do in San Francisco.

This neat little camper was obviously owned by someone with a great fun loving personality. Notice the Snoopy on top in the second picture.

The river walk was very well done and apparently well lighted at night and there was an abundance of benches and a fair number of water faucets. Also present was a number of homeless
men, but they presented no problem and, in fact, there wasn't any panhandling. The only ones who spoke were the ones we spoke to first.

Little Rock as seen from across the river is a fairly appealing small town.
This bridge has stairways at each end of the draw span which turns it into a neat pedestrian bridge. Crossing this bridge gives access to the river walks on both sides of the river and would be a great exercise enhancement if you lived here.
